Important Details:
There are limited amounts of monarch pupae available each week. Therefore, you can reserve your kit up to one year in advance. At the check out screen, select the appropriate "event date" as the approximate week in which you would like to receive your delivery. Shipments are scheduled to go out every Monday and Tuesday of each week and are delivered via 2-3 Day Priority Express Mail. Therefore, deliveries are generally made by Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of each week. It is important to be aware of the delivery date since the contents are perishable. The monarch butterflies will generally emerge from their pupae within 2 to 10 days after receipt. There is about a 1-2% natural casualty rate, so it is likely that both pupae will emerge into butterflies just fine, however we do guarantee that at least one of the 2 pupae will emerge as a healthy monarch butterfly. Shipments are not available in Hawaii, Alaska, and Arizona.

Limited Availability:
This kit is available from April 15 through October 31 of each year. We take special care to make sure that the butterflies will survive after they are studied, enjoyed, and eventually released. Therefore, this scheduled availability is designed to be timed with the natural occurance of the monach butterfly in the wild.

The Unique Characteristics of the Monarch Butterfly:
The Monarch Butterfly is one of the most studied butterflies in the world. This large North American flyer travels south every fall taking part in a massive butterfly migration. This aspect of the butterfly is a great way to pique the interests of the young potential entomologists in your home or classroom. In 1999, Swallowtail Farms, Inc. participated in a unique study to help broaden the general understanding of the monarch migration. Please click HERE to see more details of this study. The Live Monarch Butterfly Emergence Kit is packed full of tools to help bring the magic of the monarch butterfly to your home or classroom.
